First Impressions NYC

Posted by: ktchergu on: September 3, 2008

Since we are still working on getting the internet set up in our apartment, it has been exceedingly difficult for me to get any sort of post up on the blog. NYC is a pretty hectic place. No matter where you look there is something going on and there’s always something to do. I am still trying to get used to the feel of living in an urban atmosphere but on the whole I am having a good time. My apartment is a six floor walk-up, so I am getting a good workout every day. However, we do have access to the roof which is great for just relaxing. There are also about a dozen different restaurants and hole-in-the-wall places right on my block. I am still trying to try all of them. As far as the university goes, there is good reason why Columbia is considered to be a great university. The buildings and the campus are nothing short of magnificent and the professors that I have met so far are at the top of their field. I am still learning a lot about how the university works and how the city works. I have been going on a lot of walks to try to learn the layout of the city but I doubt that I will be able to see everything in the first few weeks. Anyways, I will write more when I get the chance!

P.S. – I’m going to the US Open tomorrow!!!

This is an interesting statue in the garden of St. John's Cathedral Church.
