U.S Open

Posted by: ktchergu on: September 22, 2008

Okay, so I totally forgot to make a post for my US Open trip and it really deserves one. I have been wanting to go to a major since I can remember so for me to finally make it out to the US Open was a big deal. I went to the last quarterfinal match of the tournament. It was between Andy Rodick and Novak Djokovic. All in all, I was very impressed with the stadium and the courts. The grounds were very busy and there were definitely plenty of stores to explore. I bought a bunch of useless things but that’s all right since I really wanted something for memory. Before the match started, they had an exhibition between Todd Martin and Michael Chang. Todd Martin destroyed him. Unfortunately, the main event was not too competitive. Roddick forgot how to play tennis for the first two sets. Novak didn’t really need to do anything special at first but Roddick started serving a little better and won the third set. I never really liked Roddicks game because its all about a big serve and a big forehand to follow. There is no variety like Federer or Nadal has and therefore he is not the most exciting player to watch. If Roddick is not serving well then the match becomes rather boring. Nevertheless it was great just to be there and to feel the atmosphere. The crowd was being really obnoxious since they were yelling as Novak was about to serve and they really didn’t like him in general. He was booed for his comments after the match since he sort of took it personally (as he always does) that the fans were not on his side throughout the match. All in all I had a very positive experience at the Open and I am looking forward to coming back next year.

P.S. – Way to go Roger for winning it again!
