Inauguration Celebration at CU

Posted by: ktchergu on: January 29, 2009

So, the fact that Barack Obama is a graduate of Columbia is a pretty big deal and so it should come as any surprise that the university did a little party for the students. There was a giant screen set up and hot chocolate/hot apple cider was served. Even though it was rather cold as usual it was still rather nice to be a part of the crowd. I thought that the speech he gave was very impressive and powerful. Some very strong language and analogies throughout the entire thing. It was definitely a more timely and down to earth sort of speech but it goes along with his promise to get straight to work which I think is very encouraging. Also, I can’t believe that the Supreme Justice messed up the oath. If anyone is supposed to know it by heart it should be him since his entire purpose is to deal with the Constitution. Nevertheless, I had a great time and I am really looking forward to the actions of the new administration.

he actually didn’t mess up the oath… he gave the oath in the old-fashioned form that it was originally written in, but nobody got that- so now everyone thinks he is an idiot.

Yeah, I realized that later. It was sort of funny though.
